“Fill These Jars with Water”

John 2:6-8

Nearby stood six stone water jars, the kind used by the Jews for ceremonial washing, each holding from 2-3 measures. Jesus said to the servants, “Fill these jars with water.” So they filled them to the brim. Then He told them, “Now draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet.” They did so.

Now, Listen:

Why six jars? In my research, I have found that the Hebrew number six often refers to the works of man, but ideally represent sacrificial love and intimate knowledge with the creator. The number six asks to whom or what are you connected? Are you connected with God or with the beast/flesh (from website Graceintorah.net).Jesus wanted the 6 jars, which I interpret as representing the flesh/man, to be filled with what? Water….Living Water…The Word…Jesus. So they filled them to the brim! They filled them with as much as the jars could hold of the water-or the Word! When He told the servants to draw some out and take to the master, it reminds me of God’s word that says, my word will not return to me void, but will fulfil the purpose for which I sent it. So when we give God what we draw out of the jar (this act is accomplished by applying the word to our life which is done by confessing, repenting, obeying, praying, submitting, praising, (which are all forms of worship, in my view) and then we give what we draw out back to God, then it becomes meaningful wine of the Lord’s that is a symbol of sustenance and life, promises of blessing for obedience, and joy, celebration, and the abundant blessings of God. (I am not speaking of drinking wine, literally, for it can be abused and then used as an inroad for the enemy. I am only speaking of it symbolically.) Wine is a symbol of the mature fruit that we produce when connected to the vine, which is the Holy Spirit through His word. It also is a symbol of celebration which is what we feel when we are abiding in the fruit of the Spirit. Also, like in John 2:9-11, the more you mature and give to God the better the wine is! What You draw out and give back to the master gets better and better!

Ask God to reveal to you through the power of the Holy Spirit, further meaning and interpretation regarding this passage. This passage is full of hidden meanings that God is ready to reveal to us! Just ask Him!

I am so grateful to Yeshua for the work He has done on the cross that has reconciled my relationship with God, and allows me to abide in Him and be transformed into a new creation in Christ Jesus!
