John 2:3-5
When the wine was gone, Jesus’ mother said to him, “They have no more wine.”
“Dear woman, why do you involve me?” Jesus replied, “My time has not yet come.
His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever He tells you.”
Now, Listen:
On behalf of her friends, Mary goes to Jesus knowing without a doubt, with full faith, Jesus has the ability to solve the wine problem. She has so much faith in his work that she ignores Jesus saying it’s not time and she instructs the servants to obey Jesus. What I see is that an intercessor– someone who has a loving relationship with Jesus–is effective! God is okay with boldness and assertiveness if you are close with Jesus like His mother is close with Him.
Wine….Blood….Life….
Sometimes in the Body of Christ, we run out of life–a vitality with Christ that was once there when we first followed Christ. Mary’s intercession for her friends at the wedding, shows us that we can intercede for the Body of Christ if the wine has run out in the life of the Church, which in many, many cases, it has! Mary told the servants to listen to Jesus and He will restore the wine. So likewise, if we listen to Jesus, He will restore the wine in our life. Wine…Blood…Life. He is able to restore the life in the church, “if we do whatever He tells us to do” –Wow! I know from experience that listening to Jesus and obeying brings restoration, freedom from the bondage of evil spirits, and great joy and peace. Obedience is beautiful. Obedience leads to healing, restoration, deliverance, salvation, and revival!
You can be close to Jesus like Mary was because Jesus says obedience is thicker than blood. The person who obeys my heavenly Father’s will is my brother, sister and mother! (Matthew 12:50) Thank You, Lord Jesus!
