A Small Voice in a Shouting World

John 1:6-8

There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. This man came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all through him might believe. He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.

It means:

God sent a man named “God is gracious” (John) to tell how Jesus is the light sent to save us from darkness. Jesus is the Messiah. John was sent so that men might hear what he said and believe in Jesus. He was not the Messiah, he just came to tell about the light (the Messiah).

Now Listen:

God sends men to earth to do God’s purpose. Men’s purpose on earth is to point to the light, to lead people to it. It is not to seek their own desires, but to testify as a witness to who Christ is so all can be prepared for Jesus’ coming. John did it first, we are to be doing this now! The King is Coming!

Dear Father in heaven, I pray that all believers, including myself, will pray to you for help in being able to shine the light on Jesus, to be the salt and the light for You, Father, and for Your glory. I pray for all unbelievers to desire to find You-the truth- and know Your salvation and love.
