A Small Voice in a Shouting World

John 1:10-11

He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him.

It means:

Jesus came to earth but no one recognized Him, not even His own chosen people.

Listen:

The world existed because of Him, as we have learned in an earlier passage. It was made through Him, or it would not have been made at all. The world should have recognized the master, creator and designer of the world but why didn’t they? Sin had entered into their lives, they became blind to the Truth and moreover, the were even hostile to the Truth. They were so far from their Maker, they thought He was false because what they created as their “idea” of god, well, Jesus did not fit their image of what they wanted their god to be. Their stubborn pride blinded them and even caused hostile rejection. If living life your own way causes you to reject and be hostile to God or to people who represent Christ, then your way is devastating. It is destructive-to yourself and others!

Dear Jesus, Today, Your own is Your Church. Please help us to have new sight and receive You and prepare ourselves for You. Please help us not to reject Your Ways because we have created our own way as “the way”. Please pour Your Grace and Mercy on us. You are so worthy to be praised and honoured! Create in us a clean heart and renew a right spirit within us. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever!
