To Become Children of God

John 1: 12-13

But to all those who did receive Him, who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood or the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.

It means:

Only those people who believe and receive Jesus as God will have the right to become His children. Not every person who is born has this right, only those who receive Him.

Listen:

What does receive mean? It means to take something offered. What does believe mean? It means to accept as true or real. To these people He gave a legal right to be true children, adopted-like, where they have every legal right as an heir to the King of everything. Like a prince or princess, they have the legal right to be the child of the King with all the benefits! In the court of law, adopted children have the same legal rights as biological children.

See it:

In the natural, when someone is adopted, usually, the parents pay a large price to adopt the child. They seek the child and travel a long distance, sometimes, to receive the child. The desire they have for that child is strong. They are excited that they have given the child an abundant life and have taken them from a place where they did not have parents, a place where they were alone without a family, a place where they were being supported by an establishment rather than personal love and attention given by loving parents. Now, as an adopted child, everything their parents have is theirs. Their new parents give them a new home, new clothes, and sometimes a new country, even. The adopted child receives strong love and personal attention, training and discipline by parents who adore their new son or daughter. The parents teach the child their family attributes and beliefs and ways. They give the child their NAME-showing that their precious child belongs to them.

Thank you, my beautiful Heavenly Father, for adopting me into Your amazing kingdom, giving me clothes of Your righteousness to wear, Your Word as nourishment, Your Way as discipline and guidance, Your protection from the evil one, and Your Name that shows I am Yours. I accept your gifts and love and I love You in return. I give my life to You daily. In Jesus’ Name.

Amen
