I read once that a tactic used to seize a city in ancient times was to surround the city in order to prevent any escape so the people would die a slow death of starvation. Whether this strategy is true or false, it caused me to reflect on what happens when demons seize a Christian or any person.
From my personal experience, one can let down their guard in several ways that allows their “city” to be vulnerable. There are several ways to allow demons in your territory, but a major way is through perpetual sin without confessing and repenting. (Confessing means owning the sin and agreeing with the Lord Christ that it is a sin and repentance means turning away from the sin at any cost).
Once the demons enter, they will cause the person to not want to read the Bible. Unless the Christian understands spiritual warfare and how to confess, repent and command the demons to leave in the name of Jesus, they will be oblivious that the horrible condition they are in (and usually it is mental but it is also very often physical) is due to demonic invasion. At any rate, they will be distracted from receiving the food and nourishment they need. One way to receive Spiritual food is by reading the Bible. Many people afflicted do not “feel” like reading the Bible or spending time in the Word so they die spiritually because they are starving just like the ancient seized cities.
Reading the Bible every single day while being guided by the Holy Spirit was a main method that the Lord Christ used to deliver me from demons. I am now free from the fear, hatred and other torment that was in my mind due to the demonic influence. Praise Jesus! He is the Way, the Truth and the Life! I have peace, joy, gentleness, self-control, love, patience, kindness, goodness, and faithfulness because He delivered me! How grateful I am for His Faithfulness! Always, remember, we need nourishment from the Lord, from the Holy Spirit, from Yeshua Himself. The enemy will want to starve you to death. Don’t let him.
Dear Heavenly Father, I pray for all those who claim to be Christians who are under demonic affliction to have their eyes open to the demonic strongholds that abound. I petition, Father, that You draw them to you and give them understanding to seek deliverance with all their heart and to experience all the fruit of the Spirit in order to become true powerful servants for You and Your purpose.
